About Lake Maumelle
Central Arkansas's main water supply, Lake Maumelle has an area of 8,900 acres covering an area of 14 square miles and a 70-mile shoreline.
95% of the population of Pulaski County depends on Lake Maumelle for their drinking water.
Lake Maumelle is one of the cleanest in the Southeastern United States according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Lake Maumelle is projected to provide high quality water for another century.
The biggest threat to the water quality is converting land use from forests to development (page ES-4 of the Watershed Management Plan).
The Watershed Management Plan spells out how to develop the land and yet maintain high water quality.
