USGS Water Resources of Arkansas

Central Arkansas Water - CAW

Ozark Society - The mission of the Ozark Society is Conservation, Education and Recreation, to protect and preserve our streams, forests and wilderness in Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri and Oklahoma.

Current Arkansas Conservation Concerns:

Preservation of Lee Creek and Arkansas Extraordinary Resource Waters (ERWs).

Massive use of prescribed fire by U.S.Forest Service and National Park Service, particularly in wilderness.

USFS Bearcat Hollow Project adjacent to Richland Creek, Richland Cr. Wilderness, Stack Rock and the Gene Rush Wildlife Management Area.

Instream gravel mining, especially on Crooked Creek, South Sylamore Creek and the White River.

Loss of Delta aquifers, wetlands and the unsustainable use of water.
